Feedburner is one of the most powerful tools for managing subscribers to your website. Feedburner, now owned by Google, allows you to manage the RSS feed from your website’s content and see where your subscribers are coming from. You can view subscribers by country, see what feedreader they’re using and even manage an email subscribers’ database.
The email subscribers section is perhaps the best part of Feedburner because it replaces the need for a mailing list. Where normally you would ask people to subscribe to your newsletter and then email them every now and then about the latest offers from your website; with Feedburner they subscribe to your content by email. Then, whenever you write a new post they are emailed the content of that post to read.
It’s cheaper than a mailing list, more secure than a mailing list, you don’t have to bother with approving subscribers or dealing with complaints and your website doesn’t run any risk of being reported for spam emails because it’s all through Google.
If you’re not using Feedburner for your subscribers, start now and see what a difference it makes to your posting habits when you know how many people are interested.
