Pinmoore Animal Laboratory Services (PALS) are veterinary diagnostic specialists. From their laboratory based in Clotton, Cheshire, PALS offer specialist sample testing for veterinarians, zoos and wildlife parks, farms and pet owners. Sample kits are sent out, returned to the lab, and tested.

The Challenge

PALS Vet Lab came to Engage Web following a recommendation from one of our clients. Prior to working with Engage Web, PALS had a static website with just a contact form, and the site was receiving virtually no traffic.

PALS would receive emails overnight from customers who wanted their testing kits and, when they arrived in the office the next morning, they would have to phone each customer to take payment for the orders over the phone and then dispatch the kits. This was taking a lot of time, costing a lot in hours/salary.

The PALS team needed a system where the orders were automatically processed and were paid for. They also had a lot of different testing kits, and needed a way of them being displayed online with variable pricing, depending on the type of test being required.

The Solution

Engage Web built a new website from scratch for PALS, with ecommerce functionality, so payment can be taken directly through the site. Testing kits were split into categories based on the animal, with dropdown functionality allowing site visitors to easily find the test needed. Variable pricing was also added to the kits, along with test-specific notes, making for an easy, informed user experience.  

As a later addition, the website has been split into two sections, Veterinary and Pet Owners, to allow site visitors to more easily navigate to the most relevant content.

Once the site was put live, PALS could use their support package, meaning they only need to email our team to make changes to the site, including their products.

Success factors

Since the launch of the new site, PALS no longer have to worry about coming into the office each morning and phoning customers for payment – they have all testing kit order details paid for, ready and waiting to be shipped out.

The site was built to be SEO-friendly, and despite undertaking no ongoing SEO campaign, the site has received impressive traffic increases, with the majority of the traffic coming from Google.

Moving forward

Traffic and orders to the PALS site continue to grow, and Engage Web continues to support PALS with the website, making any required changes and adding new kits to the site so the PALS team can focus on what they do best.
