What can I do for Learning at Work Week?

This week, Engage Web is joining many other workplaces nationwide in celebrating ‘Learning at Work Week’ in order to highlight the importance and benefits of building learning cultures at work.

The annual campaign takes place from May 17 to 23, and offers ideas and opportunities for employees to operate inventive and productive activities for their workplace.

What is Learning at Work?

Learning at Work aims to encourage workplaces to stimulate curiosity and engage their employees in learning through a provided framework of activities that are clearly linked to your business objectives and employee requirements. Many companies use the campaign to provide a ‘rebrand’ or restore the organisation’s commitment to team development across a range of non-work associated and interest-led events, from award ceremonies to business-concentrated sessions.

Due to recent uncertainty caused by COVID-19, a key focal point of the campaign will be planning and developing virtual activities for employees nationally, inspiring all employees to get involved.

The campaign is free to register and online resources can be accessed on the ‘Learning at Work Week’ website. The website provides planning suggestions, news and events, and the LAW Week newsletter. The ‘Love Learning about Money Together’ webinar will be hosted on tomorrow (Thursday, May 20th) at 2:00 pm and includes helpful tips to encourage children to understand money management.

Other events and ideas across the week include free tasters from The Impact Factory such as ‘Building Confidence at Work’, online sessions from the Leeds Becket University #WECAN (Women Empowered through Coaching and Networking), and Ted Talks with Jim Tamm and Carol Dwek.

What is Engage Web doing for Learning at Work Week?

Education is very much the theme at Engage Web right now. For a start, I’m now over a week into my work placement here and am learning every day, including working towards a Google Digital Garage qualification. We also have two members of the team, Alan and John, undertaking apprenticeships related to their roles.

If you’re looking to learn yourself, we offer a variety of courses through the Online Learning Academy, covering subjects ranging from publishing an eBook, to canine nutrition.

Learning doesn’t necessarily mean taking a course, though. Improving positive perceptions of understanding, motivation and productivity in the workplace is essential for the overall engagement and efficiency of the business. For more guidance on reaching your business’ goals and improving overall efficiency, talk to a member of the Engage Web team today.
