A new survey shows that more people are using AI (artificial intelligence) tools like ChatGPT to search for information, while fewer are relying on Google. This shift could have a big impact on how businesses attract customers online.
The survey, instituted by Higher Visibility, polled 1,500 members of the United States. Google’s basic search percentage fell from a figure of 73 percent last February to a figure of less than 67 percent this August. In the meantime, ChatGPT usage nearly tripled. More people are also using AI applications every day, and usage climbed from 14 percent to a record-breaking 29 percent.
This change is happening fast, and younger users are getting into it. Many are intermixing sites like TikTok, Instagram and ChatGPT in a quest for what they require. Even for local searches, something that Google has long dominated, AI usage has more than doubled.
This means that it might not be sufficient for business owners anymore to solely rely on Google for traffic. Search behaviour is shifting, and individuals are employing a variety of other instruments for discovering products and services and getting data. Companies need to consider how they appear more than one platform at a time, rather than simply within Google’s rankings.
Businesses still need a strong presence on search engines, but it’s no longer the only piece of the puzzle. With the increasing usage of AI-based tools, adapting early and fast as a company will not only make it easier for customers to find you, but also increase the likelihood of gaining new ones.
