Air passengers could face huge charges if they need to correct any spelling errors on their travel documents. Some travellers have already had to pay charges, some in excess of £100 to correct relatively small errors. According to Which? Travel, EasyJet and Monarch both charge a flat fee of £100 for each ticket to be amended. If you fly with Jet2, Flybe or bmibaby, you will face a flat fee for each journey, which would mean paying twice on a return journey.
The Office of Fair Trading are currently investigating complaints regarding the fees associated with debit and credit cards. Online check-in fees, baggage and credit and debit card fees add up to more than £1 billion each year for Ryanair. However, according to Thomson, bmibaby and Flybe, they allow a 24 hour period for you to have any genuine errors corrected. EasyJet and Jet2 look at each case individually, and will correct any genuine errors free of charge.
Just as air passengers pay heavily for spelling errors on tickets, a company will lose business if its website displays poor content. Spelling and grammatical errors present a poor image which will have a negative effect on website traffic and your search engine rankings. Search engines love original content which is posted on a regular basis, but this can result in you making errors, especially if you don’t have a good grasp of the English language. A UK copywriting agency has professional writers who can create original copy for your website, increasing search engine rankings and attracting custom.
