Revamp for Google+

Google has revamped its social networking site Google+, in an effort to make the site easier to use and to interact with other users on the site. A ribbon has been introduced, placed at the left hand side of the page, which will replace the icons previously situated at the top of the page. Hovering the cursor over the icons will display “quick actions” so users can decide whether to delete certain icons or position favourites.

According to a Google blog post, the aim of the revamp is to introduce a fresh looking site which combines utility with an attractive site, so that users are encouraged to engage with others. The revamp of the social networking site is the first step in that direction. Other changes include photos and videos which are posted to Google+; they can now be posted as full size, or “full bleed” as Google states.

Invitations from contacts in the user’s circles will be displayed on a separate Hangouts page, so users can easily spot invites and join in with live chat. An ‘explore’ page has also been introduced that displays Google+ pages which are popular, along with a profile page that lets you display full size photos. Although there’s plenty of space on the new site, which critics have noticed, a Google spokesperson said:

“We’ve… built the ribbon with the future in mind, giving us an obvious (and clutter-free) space for The Next Big Feature, and The Feature After That. So stay tuned.”

Google constantly strives for perfection, as the success of the search engine demonstrates, which is why it features strongly in a relevant SEO campaign, whether it is in Liverpool or Las Vegas.
