The main goal of SEO (search engine optimisation) is trying to encourage as much traffic to your website as possible.
However, it is equally important that you persuade your visitors to provide you with what you want from your site – a sale or an enquiry, for example. Below, we’ve listed some ways in which you can do so.
Make sure you’re visible on search engines
This is the most obvious one, but if you are easily accessible through search engines, you will receive larger amounts of website traffic, which will mean you are more likely to receive conversions.
Logic would suggest that the more people are visiting your site, the more likely you are to receive a sale or enquiry. Therefore, having good SEO is essential.
Know your visitor-to-conversion ratio
If you can identify how many people are visiting the site, compared to how many people are purchasing or enquiring about your product or service, then you can try to identify any improvements.
Are you providing enough information? Is the navigation smooth? Is the checkout or contact process easy to follow and submit?
These are some questions you can ask while putting yourself in the customer’s shoes, to try and identify what could potentially cause them to click off the site.
Optimise your website for mobile
It can be easy to fall into the trap of designing a website purely for desktops, and neglect all other devices.
Considering more people are now using smartphones as a primary way to browse the web, optimising sites for mobile is more necessary than ever. Therefore, you must make sure that the website displays and functions suitably on all device types.
Any sites that aren’t will be off putting to visitors, essentially scaring them away as it does not suit their preferences.
