According to research by Net Applications, the market share of Google’s Chrome Browser rose to 16.2 percent in September, an increase from the previous month’s figure of 15.5 percent. Subsequently, the market share of both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox fell. Apple’s Safari also benefited from an increased share.
According to Larry Page, Google CEO speaking at the Zeitgeist conference in September, the number of Google Chrome users worldwide has increased to 160 million, in the third year of its existence. Currently on version 15 of Google Chrome, the browser has been updated on a regular basis to enhance user experience.
The company are hoping for another increase in the number of users, as they open a new store in London which will familiarise people with the browser. In addition, Google have been advertising on TV. The results of Net Application’s research show that Microsoft Internet Explorer lost 0.9 percent of users, while Firefox also fell by just over one percent to 22.5 percent.
The web browser for the mobile phone sector is completely different, which is why Net Applications started to compile the results for mobile browsing separately. The company acknowledges the:
“combination of mobile and tablet usage has continued to rise dramatically.”
In this category, Safari holds 55.6 of the market share, while is up to 16 percent. Google continue to make strides in all areas of technological advancement, which is why they remain an important part of any SEO campaign. From LA to Liverpool, Google continue to expand their empire.
