Fans of movies can now search for information about new releases on Google search and also watch a movie trailer.
Previously, users would visit other sites to look for movie information, like Rotten Tomatoes or IMDB. However, Google have incorporated YouTube into Google search so that users can watch movie trailers on the same page as their results.
Searching for a movie in a specified city will produce results for the movie which have a button next to the title so you can watch the movie trailer without leaving the search results page.
When a user clicks on the button which appears by the side of each title, a YouTube screen appears to play the film trailer, with the search page dimmed in the background. On the right hand side of the search results page you will find Google Maps which will provide directions to your chosen theatre or cinema. This latest update to Google search could have a huge impact on film review websites, which may have to review their SEO campaign.
The YouTube window will also give details of the film, including an outline of the plot, the cast and director. Although there won’t be a user rating, there will be Google+ button for user recommendation. The number of recommendations will be displayed by the side of the button so that users will be able to gauge popularity of the movie. Search engine optimisation of review companies could be affected by the search engine improvements, whether they are in Chester or California.
