Google releases Gemini 3 AI model into search

Google has just rolled out its newest artificial intelligence (AI) model, Gemini 3 Pro, into Search’s AI Mode.

This is the first time Google has launched a Gemini model directly into Search on its release day, showing how important AI is becoming in the way people find information online. For business owners, this update could change how customers discover and interact with content.

Gemini 3 is designed to “think” more deeply and explain complex ideas more clearly. In Search, it can now create dynamic layouts instead of just showing blocks of text. This means when someone asks a question, the AI might build a custom response with images, tables or even interactive tools like calculators or simulations. For example, Google showed how Gemini 3 could create a mortgage calculator right inside the search results. This makes answers more engaging and useful, but it also means website links may appear alongside these new tools rather than being the main focus.

Another big change is how Google handles queries. Gemini 3 improves what’s called “query fan-out,” which means Search can now run more related searches in parallel. This helps Google better understand what a person is really asking and surface content it might have missed before. For businesses, this could mean more chances for sites to be discovered if the content matches those deeper searches.

Google says it will soon add automatic model selection, so tougher questions will be routed to Gemini 3 while simpler ones use faster models. Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S. already have access, but Google plans to expand Gemini 3 to all users soon.

For business owners, the key takeaway is that search results are becoming more visual, interactive and intelligent. Your content may now compete directly with Google’s own tools inside AI Mode. This makes it more important than ever to ensure your website offers clear, high-quality information that meets Gemini’s search engine optimisation (SEO) requirements and can stand out when Google’s AI is deciding what to show.
