Google can be very strict when it comes to the content it deems acceptable on your Google Business Profile.
Many companies have recently discovered this first hand, as Google now has a huge backlog of suspension appeals to review and either approve or deny.
This rise in numbers has been at an increase since January, and is set to continue as Google’s response time has been increased from its former 5 days to an estimated 5 weeks.
Earlier this year, the number of Google forum complaints on this topic took a huge increase. This forum acts as a backup for most users who will initially submit a support request, then turn to the forum when they are running out of patience, having not had a direct response from Google.
Although there is no official response or statement from Google, this kind of issue might usually happen following an algorithm update, with more suspensions becoming apparent in an attempt to make the platform more secure.
Considering there is a huge backlog of support requests, we would encourage users to hold off on making any major changes to their profile for now and, hopefully, this issue will be reduced in the near future.
This isn’t a convenient suggestion or situation to be in, but it is definitely worth being slightly more cautious when making changes, as you don’t want to receive a suspension and be without a Google Business Profile for what could be up to 5 months.
