John studied English with Creative Writing at university and went on to write for newspapers in both West Yorkshire and Chester. A published poet, short story writer and music blogger with a flair for quick pun-delivery, John is a genuine word nerd and a member of a Scrabble club, so it was only natural that he went on to work in a wordy position.
After joining Engage Web in 2012 initially as a Web Content Editor, John went on to become our Content Team Leader within a year and worked full-time at Engage Web until 2023. Today, John has a fulfilling role as a mental health support worker and on a part-time basis continues to work as part of our content editing team.
As well as being avid supporter of Chester F.C. who has visited over 100 football grounds, John describes himself as a public transport, walking and general ‘green’ enthusiast, and is the proud owner of two pet African land snails. He’s a terrible bass guitar player – unless you like Nirvana and Joy Division medleys – so generally prefers to show his love of music by buying records and blogging about them!
