BNI (Business Network International) is a global organisation that contains around 7,500 chapters worldwide.
Its aim is to give its members (of which there are some 200,000) opportunity to pass on referrals unrestricted by geographic location – meaning members can form connections with other business owners on an international scale.
Have you ever wondered which chapters pass on the most amount of business each year? This blog will take a closer look at the stats.
Israel
According to our research, two chapters from Israel stood out as being particularly successful, with each group logging 1.7 and 1.1 million pounds equivalent over the last 12 months. These chapters contained 44 and 26 members, respectively.
Israel alone has so far amassed £250 million worth of business in the past year – half the amount of the UK, yet with a population around 8 times smaller. The Israeli BNI page for both of these chapters invites members to:
“Come for our meeting – stay for the referrals!”
Which, it would appear, is an accurate statement, given that, according to those who are already part of the chapter:
“BNI members, on average, increase their business 20% the first year.”
USA
Another international chapter that stands out for its high success rate is an American group located in Santa Rosa, California – the state where BNI was initially conceived.
Currently, it has 56 members and has passed on a cumulative $7,105,981 worth of business in the past 12 months – the equivalent of just over £5.6 million.
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why some BNI groups are more successful than others (in the latter case, it could be as simple as a good dose of West Coast sunshine).
According to a blog published by BNI, the recipe for success can be boiled down to four main characteristics:
• Quality
• Engagement
• Growth
• Stories
The organisation expanded on the former by saying:
“Quality is first on the list for a reason. The process begins by being very selective about who you bring into a chapter. You want quality business professionals who have a positive, supportive attitude. You also want people who are good at what they do.”
While these chapters have proved to be the very best for gaining business statistically, there’s no reason why your chapter can’t achieve just as much success.
