The world of digital marketing can be unpredictable. With constant industry changes and trends coming in an out faster than ever, it can be hard to plan ahead.
Based on recent events, however, we have put together a few things to consider for your digital marketing plans in 2024.
Podcasting over blogging
Podcasts have become more popular in recent years, yet compared to blogs, can be seen as a rarer medium among industries.
Research suggests that there are over 1 billion blogs on the internet, in comparison to a mere 4.2 million podcast channels. In an ideal world, your business would have both; however, if only one is feasible for you, podcasts may be the way forward if you’re hoping to stand out from the competition.
Changing your approach when writing content
Preferences in content will always vary and change over time. For example, the norm when writing a blog would be that it is thousands of words long, going into mass amounts of detail. However, with the social media era being more prominent than ever, your audience’s attention span is reducing, meaning shorter posts could be more beneficial as people want instant answers, rather than reading through pages of text.
Another factor for this point would be the rise of AI (artificial intelligence) content. In terms of ranking, human written content has always proved to be more successful than AI written content. However, more businesses are becoming reliant on AI content, despite the obvious ranking risk. A good middle ground would be to combine the two, and have AI written content proofread and fine-tuned by a human before it goes live.
Companies will utilise popular social networks less
It seems obvious to use the likes on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube when advertising on social media as they are the most popular platforms, meaning more people are likely to see your advertisement.
While this is true, it might not offer the best return on ad spending. Studies suggest that X offers the best return, closely followed by Pinterest and Snapchat. This won’t be the case for all companies, however it could be something to consider when using social media advertising.
