Are you a big user of Twitter for business? Would you like to be able to schedule tweets to go live during the evenings, weekends or when you’re on holiday? Most people do this with software such as TweetDeck or Hootsuite and, while they’re both great tools, they can take a bit of getting used to and you have to pay for the best features on Hootsuite.
Did you know you can schedule tweets just by using Twitter, without paying for any software?
The feature is pretty well hidden, but works in much the same way as a scheduled post on Facebook.
Here’s exactly how you do it:
Step 1: Log into Twitter’s ad system at ads.twitter.com and enter your credit card details. Don’t worry, you won’t have to pay anything. You just need to add payment details to activate the account. It is completely free.
Step 2: Click the ‘New Tweet’ button in the top right of the screen. That will open the ‘New Tweet’ composer box, where you write your tweet. Notice that ‘Standard’ is selected by default. Keep that selected, as choosing ‘Promoted-only’ leads you down the paid tweeting route.
Step 3: Click on ‘Scheduling’ and select ‘Custom’. Then choose the month, day and time of your tweet. Once you are happy with the time you have selected, click ‘Tweet’ in the bottom right.
That’s it. You have now scheduled a tweet and you didn’t need to use any additional software or any premium paid service.
