Due to company growth, we have an opportunity for a PHP developer with strong PHP, MySQL and CSS skills and an interest in website design and development.
Duties of role
This is not an exhaustive list, but within this role you will work on a variety of projects, including WordPress development. Duties will include working with plug-ins, debugging code and customising templates. You will be involved in web design projects and development, whilst considering SEO implications and remaining aware of cross-browser compatibility. You may also be involved in:
- Designing, developing and building websites/web applications that may include bespoke applications
- Working with plug-ins, debugging code and customising templates
- Designing requests such as newsletter templates, social media profile templates, etc
- Setting up and running social media campaigns
The role requires an individual with an eye for detail, a firm understanding of the Internet and strong English spelling and grammar skills would be an advantage.
Candidates should be well organised and have the confidence and ability to work to deadlines.
Experience:
- Experience of programming with PHP5 and MySQL
- Good standard of written English – spelling and grammar
- Experience with Internet CMS systems, such as WordPress is desirable
- Experience of JavaScript would be advantageous
Knowledge:
- A strong understanding of cross-browser compatibility is essential
- Understanding of the Internet and search engines
- Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver is desirable
- Knowledge or experience of different website hosting platforms and FTP is also desirable
Technical Skills:
- Strong HTML and CSS skills are essential
- High level of PC literacy – MS Word, Excel and Office
- The ability to research new advancements and new technical approaches
- Ability to focus on complex, technical problems and deliver solutions
- Demonstrate consideration for SEO implications and cross-browser compatibility
Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, with colleagues and clients
- Possess excellent attention to detail and a can-do attitude
- Ability to think creatively with a proven record of innovation
- Ability to analyse and identify requirements and work towards solutions
- Strong organisation and project management skills and driven to achieve results within tight timelines
- Passion and enthusiasm for the internet and highly self-motivated
- Ability to work on own initiative and within a development team
- Comfortable working in a small, friendly environment

Salary: £18,000 – £22,000 dependent on experience
Location: Ellesmere Port, Cheshire
Duration: Permanent
Hours: 35hrs per week (Mon – Fri 9am-5pm)
