Google has updated Google Business Profile (GBP) to display posts from associated social media accounts.
Business owners can control which of their social media profiles are connected, with a limit of one account per social media platform.
For example, a Google Business Profile can be linked to one Facebook account, one Linkedin account and one X account.
It is possible for multiple Google Business Profiles to link to the same social media account; however, each Google Business Profile is limited to one link per social media platform.
The purpose of this update is to give customers a snapshot of a business’s online activity on social media sites. This means it’s more important than ever to focus your efforts on social media updates and engagement.
This is only currently available in select regions, and therefore not all Google Business Profiles will be eligible to take advantage of this feature.
It’s easy to link your social media accounts to your Google Business Profile. Simply navigate to your GBP, select “edit profile”, “business information” then “contact”. By selecting “social profiles”, you can add, update or remove the links to your social media accounts.
Occasionally, Google, as clever as it is, can identify a social media account and automatically connect this with your Google Business Profile. Should you need to edit these links, simply follow the steps above.
Specific formats are required when entering the URL of your social media account into your GBP. A clean link such as “https://www.facebook.com/[username] should be used. This is to ensure that the two platforms link together and function correctly.
This update allows consumers to observe the social media activity of businesses, all in one place. This can be beneficial to the online presence of a business, as increased visibility, engagement and brand awareness can influence customers in the sales funnel.
