Google’s Gemini set to introduce new image editing feature

Google is bringing a new feature to its AI (artificial intelligence) tool, Gemini. It will allow users to modify and make and necessary adjustments to AI-generated images, or images that have been uploaded from the user’s device.

Using text prompts, you can ask Google’s AI tool to add, tweak or remove certain elements within seconds.

Previously, to carry out a task like this, you would have to edit the image using an app like Photoshop, which also has its own similar feature. This update will make the whole process easier, however, as not everyone has access to such tools. The new feature will mean that editing can now be done directly through Google.

This will be a useful tool for businesses as it makes image editing easier, given that there is no requirement for the necessary skillset you would need to manually carry out these edits in an app like Photoshop. You can essentially negotiate with an AI chatbot until you are happy with the edits made to your image. It will also keep track of any previous messages, so you can relate your prompts to previous commands throughout the conversation.

There could be one or two concerns when it comes to image generation like this, such as the negative impact fake images could cause towards people or businesses. However, in an attempt to prevent this, all of Google’s AI-generated images will contain an invisible watermark. Google has also suggested the idea of using a visible watermark, making it easier to differentiate between any images that are real and any that have been created using artificial intelligence.
