The latest update for Google Street View allows users to explore a number of airports and train stations all over the world.
As of yesterday, the service gives access to 16 international airports and dozens of train and subway stations, as well as a Hong Kong cable car facility. Users can also look inside an Airbus A380 parked up on a Dubai Airport runway.
London’s Waterloo station is likewise featured, as are Glasgow Airport, Tokyo International Airport and Barajas Airport in Madrid.
Writing in a recent blog post, the program manager of Google Street View, Ulf Spitzer, explained that the software’s new features can help travellers reduce the stress of their journeys by allowing them to preview even more stages of their trip.
In London alone, users can explore a number of stations, including Liverpool Street, Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Fenchurch Street and Paddington.
The McLaren Formula One team’s technology centre, based in Woking, was also introduced in the update.
Train stations outside the capital include Edinburgh Waverley, Glasgow Central, Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Piccadilly.
Google has released an interactive map as part of the feature, allowing users to see all the transit locations available in the program.
The web giant has brought several significant changes to its Google Maps software this year; in July, the company released an update that let users of the app version view a live news feed of road traffic and accident updates. In April and May, Google took its Trekker cameras – which it uses to capture the image stream in Google Street View – along the canals of Venice.
