Google Chrome targeted by security flaw

Having discovered another critical security fault within Chrome, Google has released a new patch that aims to defend browsers against this fault, meaning anyone who uses Chrome must ensure that their browser has its latest version installed.

Last week, Google reported that it had found a vulnerability of a high severity that enables remote attackers to access your browser and install malicious code on it.

Discovered by Clément Lecigne of the Google Threat Analysis Group, this vulnerability has already been used. Thankfully, Google has since patched this vulnerability, but it won’t be put into place on your device unless the browser is utilising its latest version, meaning it is imperative that all Chrome users update their browsers immediately.

Updating Chrome is a simple task that takes just seconds. Users can open the browser up and select the three dots in the top right corner of Chrome to check if they are using the latest version. Hover over the “Help” option and select “About Google Chrome.”

If a browser is using the latest version, it will let the user know by saying Chrome is up to date, if not, it should give the option to update the browser, which should only take a couple of minutes to complete.

Chrome has a history of being targeted due to its security issues. However, as a user it is worth checking your browser is up to date, not only on Chrome. That way, you can ensure you are not vulnerable to any threats.
