Google announces renovated Trends Explore page powered by AI

Google has redesigned its Trends Explore page, adding new artificial intelligence (AI) tools to help people understand what the world is searching for.

The update uses Gemini, Google’s latest AI model, to make it easier for creators and search users curious about online trends to compare topics and discover new ideas.

The new Explore page includes a side panel that automatically suggests related search terms. For example, someone researching dog breeds might see terms like “golden retriever”, “beagle” or ideas such as “hypoallergenic dog breeds”. Up to eight search terms can now appear on the comparison graph at once, making it simpler to see how interest changes over time.

Google has also refreshed the design. Each search term now has its own colour and icon, helping users quickly match the term to its line on the graph. The company has doubled the number of “rising queries” shown, giving people a clearer picture of why a topic is becoming popular.

These improvements are rolling out first on desktop. Google says the goal is to help people dive deeper into what’s trending and explore the stories behind the searches happening around the world.

From an SEO perspective, the updated Trends Explore page may allow for easier keyword discovery, more rigorous competitor analysis and an improved understanding of search intent.
