Google Maps has been updated by Google with the addition of a new feature to provide updates on the public transportation system. The feature will give details of departure times, delays and alerts in real time so that you can plan your journey with greater precision. The new project is available on your desktop, mobile browsers and if you are running Android 1.6 or higher you will be able to access with the latest version of Google Maps for mobile app.
If you plan a route using Google Maps or click on a public transport route or station, you will be given live departure times and any alerts, which may detail any detours or delays. A special icon will be used to indicate any alerts.
Only four cities in the United States have access to the new feature, including Boston, San Francisco, San Diego. Portland, Oregon will be the first city to trial the Google feature.
