There are those who say you should never mix business with pleasure but, at Engage Web, we don’t believe that at all. That’s probably because the vast majority of our work is a pleasure, especially when you’re designing websites, writing blogs about holidays or cars, making videos and managing social media.
It’s hardly manual labour, is it?
This is probably why we also like to socialise with our clients and referral partners whenever possible. We attend regular networking events and socials such as meals out, archery competitions and go-kart racing.
On a side note, I would just like to point out how I won the last archery social event, but then I do have my own bow and have had professional lessons. Still, a win is a win.
One of our favourite forms of work-based socialising, however, involves football. Not the playing kind, but the watching.
As a life-long Liverpool fan it was one of my goals to someday own season tickets to Anfield. This was a goal I, at one point, thought would never be realised as the waiting list for season tickets was into the decades, and was even closed off for new people at the time. You couldn’t get on the waiting list, never mind purchase season tickets.
However, when the new Main Stand was developed almost three years ago, the club opened up thousands of hospitality tickets.
This was the only chance I would have to achieve my goal, so we purchased two tickets through Engage Web to take clients, prospective clients and referral partners to games as our guests.
With the hospitality tickets, you’re not just experiencing the 90 minutes of playing action; you’re experiencing football a different way. We have access to the Carlsberg Dugout lounge, which opens a full three hours before kick-off and features live entertainment, all-inclusive food, free sweets (for the children, and the big kids) and the chance to meet a Liverpool legend. Every game features a former player, or manager, who you can meet, get an autograph, have a chat with and take a photo with. Such legends I have met already include Bruce Grobbelaar, Steve Staunton, Ray Clemence, Steve McMahon, Roy Evans and Phil Babb. The gallery below shows a selection of photos I’ve had taken already.
Of course, it’s really all about the football.
Over the last three seasons, we have been to dozens of matches, have witnessed dramatic finishes and have seen some truly spectacular moments. Origi’s injury time winner against Everton? We were there with a client. Liverpool’s 5-1 demolition of Arsenal? We were there with a client. Our barnstorming Champions League quarter final and semi-final games last season against Manchester City and Roma?
You guessed it, we were there with clients.
A wise man once said you should spend money on experiences, not on possessions, as experiences enrich your life far more. At Engage Web, we like to do just that, and share our experiences with our clients. With just a handful of games to go until the end of the season, we’re excited to see how the league challenge pans out, and with whom we’re going to share the experiences.
