Cross location posts to be tested by Google Business Profile

If your business operates in more than one location, you may have gotten a welcome hint from Google.

According to a recent update, Google is testing a “Copy post” feature, allowing you to publish the same update across multiple Google Business Profiles in one go.

As a business owner juggling several sites, replication of content (like promotions or announcements) across all locations is tedious and time-consuming. This test seems designed to streamline that process. You’ll be able to post to one profile and then check boxes for the others you manage. This means less manual posting and more consistent messaging across your footprint.

But a word of caution: you’ll still want to preserve local relevance. As handy as this tool is, you will still want to put some sort of focus on the relevant area. Having identical content across multiple listings could tarnish engagement and come across as quite lazy.

If you have been selected in the test, you should see a “Copy the update to other profiles you manage” prompt once you’ve completed your post. You’ll see checkboxes beside your different locations and can select which ones receive the same update. However, this feature is in its testing period and is only available to a select few for the time being – so, don’t log in and expect to see this feature just yet.

If you do manage multiple locations, you will need to ensure they are both managed by the same Google account with necessary permissions.

Currently, there has been no confirmation from Google as to when this will be fully rolled out. But if it goes ahead, you can expect expanded options – post types, scheduling and perhaps even analytics per location.

In the meantime, keep your local profiles active with unique content (deals, photos, reviews), and when managing multi-locations, group them clearly under one account. Also, watch for that “copy post” option after publishing – if it appears, test it carefully (start with promotional posts, not core business announcements).
