i2i Publishing is an independent book publisher helping new and established authors turn their manuscripts into professionally published books.
Founded by author Lionel Ross in 2005, the company takes a personal, supportive approach, guiding writers through everything from editing and cover design to printing and distribution.
Rather than operating as a traditional self-publishing service, i2i Publishing works in partnership with its authors through a shared-risk model, giving promising books the care, attention and support they need to reach readers around the world.
We created a modern design that gives i2i Publishing’s books and authors the space to take centre stage. Rather than filling the site with visual clutter, we introduced subtle design elements that complement the book covers and photography. On the homepage, a 3D-style animation scrolls through a hand-picked selection of covers, giving visitors an immediate feel for the wide range of genres i2i Publishing has helped publish. Further down the page, a similar feature showcases authors receiving physical copies of their books, adding a personal touch that feels very fitting for a publisher built around close relationships with its writers.
We kept the core colour palette from the previous website but gave the darker shades more prominence, allowing them to contrast strongly against the mainly white and light backgrounds. Typography also played an important role in the new look. Bold, eye-catching heading fonts give each web page plenty of character, while a more traditional serif typeface for the body copy keeps everything readable and ties naturally into the publishing world.
Behind the visuals, there was plenty of practical work too. i2i Publishing has an extensive catalogue of books and genres, all of which needed to be carried across and organised in a way that made sense for visitors and the team managing the website. We streamlined the process for adding new titles, made the individual genre pages more visually engaging and ensured links through to marketplaces were clear and easy to find. We also gave the blog much more prominence, including a dedicated latest-news section on the homepage that leads readers towards updates on new releases, authors and other company news.
The new website puts i2i Publishing’s biggest strengths front and centre: its books, its authors and the personal relationships behind each publication. The design feels polished without becoming overly corporate, helping the personality of the business come through while making it easier for visitors to explore the catalogue.
The improvements behind the scenes are just as important. A better-organised book library and a more streamlined process for adding new titles give the i2i Publishing team a website that should be much easier to keep fresh as the catalogue grows. Giving news and blog content greater prominence also creates more opportunities to showcase new books and keep visitors engaged with what the publisher is doing.
