Bed Student Rentals

Bed Student Rentals’, Chester’s largest independent student rental provider, tasked us with moving its current website over to WordPress.

The biggest feature the client wanted us to add was the option to automatically work with Concurrent/StuRents and pull in data from that system. This one-way connection was established between the website and the platform, and we achieved this by building a completely bespoke feature from the ground-up.

The outcome was a website that can grab property data, features and prices from StuRents automatically.

All properties can be customised on the website as well, with additional content and data by the client – and they also have additional options to provide Google Streetview data that is currently not provided by Concurrent.

When it comes to the website features, the centre of attention is the property search system, which provides visitors with the option to look for properties on the map as well as on a grid format. This comes with the option to filter by price, availability, or the number of bedrooms. The map feature was built from scratch too, and is automatically updated with data from StuRents.

Other advanced features we added were the option to save/favourite properties and send this list straight to a friend or the client – or just print it for future reference. We have also built a custom Rent Calculator, which visitors can use to get an idea of the monthly and annual costs based on the weekly costs of a rent and plan accordingly.

The website design features the brand colour and fonts used by Bed Student Rentals, as well as photos from all their different properties. These photos are the main focus, given the nature of their industry, and all pages feature photos of their properties one way or another. We have also channelled the company’s social media presence by displaying their Instagram feed on the new site, and styling this to be more in line with the rest of the website.

Finally, the website features an extensive blog that was carried over from the old website and made compatible with WordPress, so updating and managing new posts can be done more easily by the client’s writers.
