Professional networking site LinkedIn recently released a new app that will suggest articles to its users, as well as let them share pieces they find intriguing with friends.
The social platform, which has 350 million members, revealed Elevate on Monday, with the new newsfeed tool collating articles that it believes the user will find interesting. It is hoped that this will help to give members access to pertinent information, such as business tips and industry knowledge, as well as enhance their experience of the site.
The online news provider aspect of Elevate is centred on the use of its Pulse and Newsle algorithms, as well as through “human curation”. While these LinkedIn services already provide articles to users that it is likely they will find of value, Elevate brings the features under one roof, while also allowing for the sharing and scheduling of news pieces.
Currently, people using the paid-for app will be able to repost articles so that they can be seen by their Twitter followers and LinkedIn connections, with it believed that other social networks, including Facebook, will be factored in over time.
While there are similar news sharing products, Elevate hopes to stand out through its collaborative affects for business. For example, users will be able to view analytics about their posts, which can help companies to focus their social media efforts.
By assisting in the curation and sourcing of content, the app would also mean that marketing professionals may find it easier to keep their accounts up to date.
