After undergoing testing in the past few weeks, the Meta-owned photo and video sharing platform Instagram is now in the midst of rolling out in-app scheduling functionality.
The platform made the announcement via its @creators account, which is aimed at providing news, tools and resources specifically to content creators on the platform. In the post, Instagram explained how users have been asking for in-app content scheduling tools, and that it’s finally delivering on that promise.
According to the announcement, users will be able to schedule a picture, a carousel of pictures or a Reel (its own, TikTok-style short-form video offering) in advance by up to 75 days. To schedule a post, all users need to do is:
-
- Click ‘Advanced settings’ once the desired post is created, but not shared yet
- Click on the toggle for ‘Schedule this post’
- Choose the desired date and time
- Click ‘Schedule’, and you’re done!
There is one caveat, however – in-app scheduling is only available to ‘Professional’ accounts. However, anyone can instantly turn their account into a Professional one via their account settings, and businesses should be set as Professional accounts as standard.
Instagram has stated that this feature will be rolling out across the world over the weeks to come, so if your account doesn’t have the feature just yet, it’ll only be a matter of time, so it’s well worth watching out for. While posts are currently able to be scheduled to Instagram via the Meta Creator Studio, posting direct on Instagram can be an easier process – especially if posting on the go.
Features like this can really help businesses with planning out their social media strategies in advance – which saves on time and effort in the long run. If you need help with your business’ social media presence, why not register for our next Social Media & Content Masterclass today?
