Google launches much-awaited recommendations feature

Google has confirmed that it has fully rolled out its new recommendations section within Google Search Console, just months after the experimental feature was initially announced back in August 2024.

In a Google Search Central post on LinkedIn, the search engine giant revealed:

“We’re happy to let you know that Recommendations are now available to everyone!”

This purpose of this new feature is to provide Search Console users with opportunities and suggestions to improve the optimisation of their own or their clients’ websites.

Following these recommendations may help improve visibility and rankings on Google’s search engine results page (SERPs).

These opportunities and suggestions can include, but are not limited to, giving users advice to help with the crawling and indexing of pages on their website, or identifying pages or keywords that may have experienced a shift in clicks or impressions and may require more investigating to help boost performance.

Google has also advised:

“The data was already available to you on Search Console, but now we’re helping to make it more accessible by providing direct recommendations.”

You can find this new feature on the Overview page within your selected property on Google Search Console.

It important to note that if Google has no recommendations for your website, this feature won’t appear in your Search Console property.

You are not obligated to follow Google’s recommendations, however. They are merely optional suggestions that will be updated regularly, although they can expire and change over time.

While implementing some of these recommendations may be beneficial, you know your website and how search behaviour and performance can change with the seasons and trends. If you don’t think a change is required, it might not be the best idea for your site.
