Claire House pairs up with Chester fundraisers for Strictly

ELLESMERE PORT, JANUARY 20TH, 2015 – Hot on the heels of the BBC’s ever popular Strictly Come Dancing programme comes a glittering challenge that has been embraced by Cheshire businesses.

Local children’s hospice Claire House has signed up 10 would-be dancers from businesses including Chester law firm Aaron and Partners, online specialists Engage Web and RBS, who will train and compete for the ‘Claire House Does Strictly’ crown.

The dancers, along with their professional partners, will have four months to perfect their moves before performing in front of a live audience at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool on Saturday, 25th April 2015.

Claire House’s Angella Rawsthorne, who is organising the extravaganza, commented:

“The amateur dancers have bravely taken up the gauntlet and will be the first to take part in this new event. All of the 10 participants are great supporters of Claire House and we can’t wait to see their performances. It’ll be a fabulous night for a wonderful cause.”

Joining the volunteers on stage will be team members from Claire House and its supporters from the Cheshire Business Network. They will take part in a group dance during the event, which is being sponsored by MBNA.

Among those taking part is Carol Bate, who owns luxury dog product store Hugo and Otto in Tarporley, Engage Web’s project manager, Mark Black, and Phil McKeown, a partner in Chester legal firm Hillyer McKeown, who added:

“I agreed to take part because it seemed like a good fun – if exhausting – way to make some money for Claire House, a charity which has always been close to my heart. Also, I have to admit that I like the TV programme and have always wanted to have a bash.”

Claire House Children’s Hospice provides respite care and support to the entire family when their child is not expected to live to adulthood. The hospice looks after families from across Cheshire, as well as Merseyside, North Wales, West Lancashire and the Isle of Man.

Tickets cost £60 per person and include a two course meal, chocolates and coffee, and a fabulous evening of entertainment. Please contact Rachel Handley at Claire House on 0151 343 0883.
