Google releases June Core Update

Posted on June 7, 2021

Search engine Google recently announced the rollout of its June 2021 Core Update. However, this time, we can expect two core updates in close succession, as Danny Sullivan, Google’s search liaison, announced on Twitter that a July core update will also be released next month.

Google’s core algorithm update for this month started rolling out on Wednesday, 2nd June, about six months after its previous core update in December 2020. The search giant announced this update on Twitter to notify users of the changes that may occur, while also announcing the following update to be released in July:

Two core updates being released back-to-back has never been seen before by Google, as they’re usually released every few months or so. Sullivan explained the reasoning behind part two of the update in a tweet subsequent to the announcement:

Google’s updates have been known to have an impact on sites’ search rankings and performance. They usually take around one to two weeks to fully roll out, so you may not see any changes as of yet.

However, Google has released a guide, ‘What webmasters should know about Google’s core updates’, about recovering your overall site after a potential fall from a core update.

Since the update on Wednesday, users haven’t seen much change in their data, taking to Twitter to reassure others.

These updates could cause a chaotic couple of months in search for some, though Google has promised improved quality of results and an improvement to the overall search experience as the result.
