Google has announced that it will be releasing new features on search, Shopping and Maps to provide more useful ways for users to find more information.
Some of these features were announced a few months ago at the Search On event, but some have more recently been revealed. Here’s what to expect:
Searching for food
If you take a photo of food, and then type “near me”, you will be able to see local businesses that sell that specific type of food. This can be useful and will enable businesses to get in front of more people who are searching for their products in the local area.
You will also be able to search for a specific type of food and put “near me” at the end of the search to find businesses selling that type of food.
Translation in Google Lens
If you currently use Google Lens to translate text on a document or on a photo, instead of overlaying the translation with a background, you will now be able to see the translation as if it was part of the original document or image.
Google Maps live view search
This new feature will enable people to find your business more easily if they are using Google Maps, as it will show points of interest when using Google Street view.
To get featured in most of these new features, you will need to make sure that you have a Google Business Listing set up for your business. If you have a local presence for your business, you should make sure that you have at least a Google Business Listing set up to help you get in front of people who are searching for products just like yours in your business area.
