New Android tablet to rival Apple

Although the launch of the new Nexus 7 tablet was only announced at the Google I/O Developers Conference 2012 towards the end of June, it has already reportedly sold out in the US. The first tablet to be launched by Google and manufactured by Asus is selling out almost immediately, with shipping delays expected. Although suppliers in the UK are expecting arrivals of Nexus 7 at any time, information of shipping dates has yet to be received.

The Nexus includes the latest operating system for mobiles by Google, Jelly Bean and is the first Android tablet to do so. Google have set the price for the Nexus 7 from £160 which is very competitive when compared to Apple. Although tablets which have been produced by Motorola and Samsung haven’t had much of an effect on Apple’s share of the tablet market, Google is hoping that the Nexus 7 will be the one to beat. Shortages of the tablet have been reported in the US already, with Sam’s Club, Game Stop and Staples among them.

The reviews for the Nexus 7 are encouraging, with a large number of positive comments being made by critics. The features and quality are especially impressive for such a low price. However, it may have a fight on its hands – it is believed that Apple will release a cheaper and smaller iPad later in the year. Google is a huge competitor in the world of technology, constantly making improvements to keep search engine optimisation specialists on their toes. As such Google plays an integral role in a company’s SEO campaign, whether in Chester UK or in the US.
