Google to introduce new “AI Mode” button in search

The Google homepage you have become so used to is getting a slight redesign. Some of you might have noticed a new button alongside the search bar, allowing you to switch to “AI Mode.”

What is AI mode?

This is essentially Google’s way of allowing you to differentiate between a traditional Google search and the more modern AI search. This new AI mode will give you an exact answer rather than a list of links associated to what you have searched for, tailoring it to exactly what you’ve asked for, rather than providing search results based on certain keywords. AI mode will allow you to have a conversation within the search and ask follow-up questions based on the response you received, the same way you would with a software like ChatGPT.

This could mean there’s a whole new factor to consider when composing content with search engine rankings in mind. The content you produce isn’t solely based on search rankings; it’s now about being selected as a reliable source by Google’s AI mode. Meaning your content must be more accurate than ever and anyone who forces keywords into their content won’t reap the same benefits they would previously.

This new rollout has begun in certain countries, and it will soon be the default for everyone, regardless of their location. So, to keep up with this update and remain visible, it will be worth revising your content to ensure it will benefit from this update.
