LinkedIn has been established as an effective means of generating new leads for your business for a number of years now.
However, success in connecting with your ideal prospects is by no means guaranteed – you need to put in the work in order to catch their attention.
How do you do that? Well, for starters, you need to take a look at your individual profile. In this blog, we’re reviewing how you can optimise your LinkedIn profile so that you come across positively to your intended audience.
Don’t blend in
The strong majority of LinkedIn profiles in general are, effectively, glorified CVs. When you’re looking to attract new business, approaching your profile this way serves no tangible purpose.
If somebody is considering going into business with you, they care about what you can offer them, not your life story. While your history, including career experience and qualifications, should form part of your profile, chances are these aren’t going to help you stand out from the crowd.
Focus on your About section
Your profile’s ‘About’ section is your opportunity to pitch to your target audience. If a lead is viewing your profile, there’s a decent chance they’re interested in, or at least intrigued by, what you can offer. As the most detailed part of your profile, you should focus on this section.
However, like any good pitch, it’s important to appeal to the client’s needs and desires. So, while the ‘About’ section is about your story, remember that waffling on about topics only you care about won’t get you very far.
Create a catchy profile headline
If your ‘About’ section is your main pitch, your profile headline is how you catch your reader’s attention. This should be short, sweet and, as you can probably guess, should appeal directly to your intended target’s pain points.
If you can catch their eye right away, they’re far more likely to keep reading.
