The design of Wirral Mencap’s website was not just a creative challenge but also required some in-depth thinking with regards to accessibility.
As a charity that help people with a learning disability, some of Wirral Mencap’s members were involved in the initial stages of the design, providing feedback on usability and presentation of elements on the page. This helped us fully understand the needs of the website’s target audience and deliver an appropriate design.
It’s now much easier to donate on the website too, which naturally is crucial to the charity.
With much of the content on the previous website being out of date, we worked closely with the Wirral Mencap team to understand their visions and strategies, and emphasise the mutual benefits of membership to both the charity and the members themselves. When looking at the organisation’s values, we developed the CHOICE acronym to reflect the opportunities the charity opens up to people with a learning disability.
Finally, the array of corporate colours really helped us to produce a vibrant design in keeping with a charity that ultimately brightens up the day for its members!
