Updated app sees Glastonbury more interactive than ever

Updated app sees Glastonbury more interactive than ever

Festival-goers heading to this year’s Glastonbury will be happy to learn that the festival’s official app has been enhanced to give it a brand new look, with features that make it the most complete offering to date.

The festival’s organisers have teamed up with network provider and technology partner EE in order to provide users with the ultimate digital experience designed to help them enjoy the event more by giving handy information, navigation tools, and social networking functions.

The app, which is free to download, will be equipped with an interactive map and personal schedule feature allowing users to choose which acts to see, plan their day and even work out the most efficient route to get to the stage. The service will also have the capability to stream live performances to devices, as well as provide a festival newsfeed to keep users up to date with the latest on-site information.

In order to ensure that this year’s festival is the most interactive to date, EE will be providing free Wi-Fi, with hotspots coming in the form of life-size fibreglass cows. This idea was based on Worthy farm’s herd, the venue for the event, and was designed by festival artist Hank Kruger and his team.

The technological takeover does not stop there, because there will also be stations at which people can recharge their device’s batteries so that they can continue partying and networking late into the night.

The popular Somerset festival is due to begin tomorrow, June 25.
