Three actions you can take on Digital Learning Day

    Posted on February 25, 2021

The last 12 months have probably led all of us to head online for activities and services we would previously have looked for elsewhere, and education is no different, but did you know that digital learning has a day of its own?

What’s more, today is the 10th anniversary of Digital Learning Day, the official site of which is hosting a live broadcast at 12:00 noon EST, which is 5:00 pm here in the UK. There’s never been a more fitting time for this, as any parent who has recently had to take to digital teaching on behalf of their kids will attest.

All in all, this lull in our lives offers a great time to pick up a new skill, and we have three suggestions for you – all of which are ones we either offer or have embraced ourselves here at Engage Web:

    1. Find a free online course

Your first thought when you consider digital learning might will be “how much is that going to cost?” The answer in many cases is “nothing”.

As a great starting point, why not head to Google Digital Garage for some pointers on the increasingly vital theme of online business? Several of us at Engage Web have taken the ‘Fundamentals of Digital Marketing’ course (our Web Content Editor Emily wrote about it here), which includes a lovely certificate upon completion.

Consider apps as well, which can teach skills like foreign languages and coding. These are normally free, as long as you can put up with the ads, or you can often pay a small fee to swerve them.

    2. Join an online training event

Perhaps you find it easier to learn in a classroom environment, where someone is presenting the training to you.

If so, our Facebook Ads Masterclass is coming up next Tuesday, March 2nd, starting at 6:00pm. This is totally free to join, and you’ll get a digital copy of our book ’33 EXPERT tips to get better results with your Facebook Ads’ afterwards as a bonus.

    3. Download an eBook

A downloadable online course is something you can complete in your spare time and refer back to when you’ve finished it. At Engage Web, we’ve made several courses available through the Online Learning Academy, covering subjects as varied as freelance writing, cryptocurrency, nutrition and canine training. All of them come with support from tutors when you need it. For a free taster, start with the course on mindfulness.

Hopefully, these examples show that digital learning is something that can work around your other commitments, and that it needn’t cost you an arm and a leg. We’re never too old or young to learn, so why not take the plunge today?
