The LinkedIn recruiting revolution

Every SEO professional knows that it pays to have a LinkedIn Profile and, much like the content on the pages they are responsible for, it is important these profiles are updated regularly.

Today, much of LinkedIn’s revenue is generated through selling profile details to HR department. Indeed, for many, it is the first port of call when starting a recruitment campaign.

In 2008 the company launched LinkedIn Recruiter. A premium service providing access to businesses of every profile on the network, more than 80% of top American firms use the facility. With 86% of FTSE 100 companies having a presence on LinkedIn, the figures for UK recruiting use is likely to be similar.

The company also has a number of other so called Hiring Solutions. According to a spokesman from LinkedIn, Richard George, this is used by over 10,000 companies on a global scale. George went on to say:

“Hiring Solutions is now our largest and fastest growing business line, which I think kind of illustrates the market demand.”

Using such services offered by online networking companies is helping many firms cut back in their recruiting fees. Making such projects more cost-effective too, many are seeing it as a necessary development for modern hiring.

Talking about the increasing use of such tools, American recruiter David Marr said:

“It definitely makes it easier to communicate with people.

“It allows the communication channels to flow broader. It’s viral.”
