Strategies for boosting your website traffic

While there are varying definitions and applications for content marketing, this article examines how you can use content marketing to drive more traffic to your website. Creating and hosting content is of course the key, but there are various complementary ways to achieve this.

Start a Website News Feed

By establishing a tailored news feed for your website, you are giving your company a forum for publishing interesting news content on a regular basis. This adds value in terms of increasing your exposure to search engines, but interesting content can also lead to social shares through platforms such as Facebook and Google+.

When creating content:

• Focus on quality rather than quantity. Never publish something that you know isn’t up to standard.
• Try to follow a regular schedule, or you may find it slipping because of other pressing tasks.
• Never duplicate content, even your own. It’s always worth taking the time to present something in a new way.
• Avoid lengthy, intimidating blocks of text. Short paragraphs and bullet points are generally easier to read.

They are not a means to blatantly promote your organisation, so the language should be moderated throughout and not filled with hyperlinks, although it’s always worth spending the time to think of an eye-catching title. In addition, any press release should be error-free and follow the standard format.

Writing Guest Posts

Finally, if you have the time, you can also drive traffic by writing guest posts for various content-based websites. When an article is published, you can usually link back to your own website, but you should be careful to only link to relevant content. These websites often screen articles for quality, so you may want to use your news content provider for this as well.
