SEO continues to deliver for business

A recent compilation of data has shown that search engine optimisation is still key to online marketing success, with all strong strategies ably supported by organic content.

The news has come by way of the Search Engine Journal (SEJ), whose data has shown that 70% of all clicks are from organically generated links.

This is a huge figure and many could well contest it, particularly with paid search results becoming increasingly popular. However, the information from SEJ also showed that as many as 80% of users actively avoid clicking on search adverts.

This is an incredibly high number, particularly when you consider another finding in the collated data, which says that 75% of users never scroll past the first SERP.

Though everything is open for debate, these numbers clearly show that producing accurate and relevant content is ever more important. There are many ways in which this can be done too, but here again, some avenues are more equal than others.

One of the most successful is blogging, whereby companies who host a blog have 434% more indexed pages and will generate more leads through this. However, 19% of businesses still do not recognise blogging as an important part of their strategy.

There are also some companies who do not give much credence to the importance of SEO at all. In most cases, these are likely to be those who have ventured into SEO and been unimpressed with no results yielded immediately.

However, through patience and a good product, SEO will inevitably pay off.

  • Regarding your last comment, it’s true – many businesses become frustrated with the long delays associated with an organic SEO campaign.

It’s just not possible to reach the top spot overnight, especially for highly competitive keywords.

Also, very interesting statistics. 75% of people never scroll past the first page. I guess I’m one of the few that have my settings set to display 100 results.
