New development for business as Google launches Pages

Posted on November 10, 2011

Google+ Pages were launched on Monday 7th November, which may be interesting news for businesses. The new feature is also thought to be a competitive move against Facebook, the arch rival of Google.

Users of Pages will be able to connect with a company, just like they would with other users of the social network. Businesses will have the opportunity to add customers to circles so they can target each group in a specific way, perhaps according to interests for instance. Pages will let you stay in touch with a favourite company, or even a particular band. According to the chief of engineering for Google, Vic Gundotra who wrote in his blog post:

“Google+ Pages give life to everything we find in the real world, and by adding them to circles, we can create lasting bonds with the pages (and people) that matter most.”

It is possible for a business to add a Google+ button to its website, which lets users include the page to their circles while remaining on the site. Facebook Pages is the main competitor for Google, which is another option for businesses who want to interact with customers using social networks. Although Facebook has more members to offer businesses, Google+ boasts the Hangout feature, which makes it possible for video chat between customers and businesses. The ultimate feature of Google+ Pages is the incorporation with its search engine, although still in the early stages of development.

Google has a number of features to benefit businesses all over the UK, from Liverpool to Scotland. Google’s rapid development can make it difficult to maintain a competitive SEO campaign without continuous development of the campaign too.
