Handwrite is the latest feature from Google

Posted on August 7, 2012

A new search feature has been released by Google and is expected to make searching for information easier when using tablets and smartphones. The latest development from Google is called Handwrite and allows you to write your search term on the screen using your finger or a stylus. A program doesn’t have to be installed, although Google does recommend Chrome in its official blog.

The feature will be accessible if you have Android 2.3+, Android 4.0+ or iOS 5+. Access to a tablet or mobile has been made much easier with the introduction of voice recognition and alternative keyboards. However, if you are in a noisy environment or sitting in a moving vehicle, it can be awkward to type in or give voice commands. Handwrite will allow you to write a search term anywhere with minimum fuss. You can just type on the screen without having a keyboard taking up most of the space.

According to the Google blog, the feature is still in the experimental stages. PC Advisor thinks it works better on large screens and is easier to use with the stylus. If your handwriting isn’t clear, autocomplete will kick in and guess what you are searching for. The feature can be activated in the settings link of a smartphone or tablet.

Google features make it easier than ever for users to search for information or products. Companies are becoming increasingly aware of their online marketing as a result, which involves regular updating of their search engine optimisation campaign. This applies to companies all over the world, from Chester to Los Angeles.
