Google unveils new logo

Posted on September 2, 2015

Search giant Google has revealed a new logo design that will soon be seen on all of its products.

The redesign comes less than a month after the announcement of the company’s restructuring, with Alphabet, a new parent company, being created to diversify the whole of the Google enterprise. Furthermore, this is the biggest redesign to the famous company logo since before the turn of the millennium, in 1999.

The introduction of the logo was animated on the homepage of the renowned search engine, which showed the old logo being wiped away and replaced with the new flatter, toned-down logo which appears to be in a sans-serif font and features four colours – red, blue, yellow and green.

Google has released a statement on its blog, explaining to people why the company felt the need for change. It stated that it has significantly changed during the last 17 years. This has seen the California-based firm introduce a range of different products, including Google Glass and the idea of a self-driving car.

With the company undergoing a hierarchical restructuring with founders Larry Page and Sergey Bin moving over to spearhead Alphabet, it comes as no surprise that the Google logo has also undergone a makeover. The new logo could be representative of a new era for the search enterprise, which may impact on SEO tactics.

Throughout its history, there have been many small and minor changes to the logo, including colour changes, depth and volume adjustments, and even an exclamation mark in 1999. However, Google has said that its new logo is to reflect the way its users interact with its products through a variety of different platforms.
