Google to allow one-click gig transactions

Posted on January 20, 2015

In a move to improve customers’ experiences of its search listings, Google is to facilitate the purchasing of concert tickets online.

If artists or their representatives have set up their websites correctly, which specialists in web design from Cheshire to Cornwall should be able to help them with, information on upcoming gigs – such as dates and venues – should come up in search results.

Alongside this data, which should prove invaluable for music fans searching Google for news about their favourite acts, will be links to the relevant ticket agents for the gig. This means that the user can then simply click straight through to buy their tickets, which it is claimed will cut down on the amount of time it takes to purchase passes.

In a blog post, Google stated that the new alterations to its coding will also allow for other acts, such as comedians, and the venues themselves to list any shows in the near future. This will mean that searchers will be given quick access to any relevant information, as well as ticket service, which the search giant claims will help to improve its users’ customer experience.

By providing more and more information on its listings, which is in keeping with a trend that Google has been following for some time, it is believed that people will have less of a reason to leave its pages, thus boosting traffic.

While Google still holds around 75% of the US search market, competition from the likes of Apple, Yahoo, and Bing has been stiffening of late.
