Google tablet to be launched to rival Amazon and Apple

Following the acquisition of Motorola Mobility by Google for $12.5 billion, it is believed that the search engine giant will launch its own tablet computer to rival Apple and Amazon. It is thought that Motorola Mobility will produce tablets for Google to sell on its website. The software to be used is Google’s Android. The move by Google is to prevent rival companies like Amazon and Apple from monopolising sections of the Internet market.

One of the co-founders of Google, Sergey Brin, has reportedly commented that access to the Internet is restricted by Apple producing online services which are limited, referring to Apple apps which are only available through their devices. These include iPad, iPhone, Apple TV and iPod touch. Tony Cripps, an analyst at research company Ovum, said:

“Google is essentially an advertising company. It develops applications and services to sell advertising space online. Google needs to compete in the device space to win eyeballs for its online advertising. Otherwise, it runs the danger of sacrificing that opportunity to rivals such as Apple.”

Cripps further stated that Android was required to attract advertisers, rather than to sell applications and devices. Google is at the forefront of the world of online advertising, meaning that all companies have to be aware of its next move. A number of changes introduced recently by the search engine company have made SEO jobs more complex, requiring businesses to stay ahead of the game with their search engine optimisation campaign.
