Google Now updates make life even easier

Posted on February 28, 2013

Recent updates to Google Now have made it possible for users to check out movie ratings before booking film tickets on their Android tablets and smartphones. More features have been added to Google Now which will make life even easier for users, but could also have an impact on local search engine optimisation campaigns.

According to a blog post by the Google Now product management director Baris Gultekin, users can check movie ratings using Rotten Tomatoes and when they have decided on a movie, book the tickets using Fandango, which will immediately appear on their phone. In addition to these services. the new feature will also tell you when you need to leave home to get to the cinema, preparing your tickets on arrival.

Other new elements have been added to Google Now, including information about local real estate, although it’s not yet available in the UK. When it’s launched in the British Isles, property companies will need to consult with those in charge of their search engine optimisation (SEO) campaigns, as it will be a new tool to promote their business online.

Google Now first underwent trials in June 2012 and has now received four updates to improve the service for customers. Last December saw improvements aimed at users travelling during the holiday season, providing information for users in a timely manner. The information appears as cards on the screens of mobile devices from Android, with over 25 ‘cards’ available to provide information about travel, restaurant bookings, events, weather, appointments and more.
