Going beyond the news feed

Posted on January 17, 2018

Establishing a website news feed is a great first step in enlarging your digital footprint. Indeed, when digital marketing first become all the rage, a news feed was a the main medium through which to achieve those all-important top search rankings.

Today’s modern content marketing still employs many of the same techniques, but it ties them together in a more cohesive way that relates better to potential customers.

Tell the right story

The first step in improving your blog or news feed is to tell a cohesive story to your customers. You want them to know how much you care about their problems, and that means providing content that helps alieviate their concerns.

For example, if someone is looking into in-home care for an elderly relative for the first time, it can be an overwhelming endeavour. As a provider of suitable services, you could provide content such as guides and case studies that help this person become comfortable with your services. Once people have a good idea of the costs and benefits, they will be more likely to take the next step of contacting a sales representative.

Don’t be limited to written content

Written content is the backbone of a good news feed, but that doesn’t mean you need to be limited to it. One approach you can take is to identify the best elements of your written content and then employ other vehicles to amplify the message.

For example, if your content mentions some eye-catching statistics that highlight a need for your product or service, you can promote the message further with an infographic, which may then draw people into the larger story. Video can also be a powerful medium for connecting with customers, such as through interviews with genuine employees or testimonials from satisfied customers.

While the actual technology may vary, the aim to connect with people will not.
