Facebook voted most positive social media site by Americans

A survey recently carried out in the U.S. has found that the most positive social media site, according to users, is Facebook, although 20% of users also found that the site was more likely to cause them stress than other social media site.

Rebtel, a discount call provider and leading provider of voice over internet protocol (VoIP), conducted the research, interviewing 1,632 people in the US to discover how social media sites affected them on a daily basis.

While almost half of those surveyed thought that Facebook was the most positive social networking site, fifth labelled the site as having a negative effect on them and a further 20% believed that Facebook was the most stress-inducing social media site. The results of the survey indicate that Facebook affects users in a way that replicates everyday life – sometimes positive and other times negative.

The activity that is most likely to annoy users is being included in location check-ins and status updates, with 70% saying the issue is that they do not want their current location to be broadcast. The social media sites that caused no stress according to the study include YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn. The sites which are seen to be the most positive are Pinterest and Instagram. Users also stated that when they didn’t log in to Facebook, they were most likely to feel excluded.

Social media sites are part of everyday life for most users, which is why various sites are included in a company’s SEO campaign. Search engine optimisation incorporates social media sites, in addition to search engines.
