Double celebration for Google

Google celebrated its 14th birthday last month, along with celebrating 25 billion downloads for Google Play, its app store. Google was officially incorporated on 4th September 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, both Stanford university students at the time. The celebrations started with a birthday cake doodle, complete with candles and animation.

In celebration of the success of Google Play, the app store held a sale with many apps, games, movie rentals and ebooks at bargain prices.

Among the downloads were Angry Birds Space, Asphalt 7: Heat and OfficeSuite Pro 6. Since 1998, Brin and Sergey have built up the search engine company which now has a market value of $246 billion. Microsoft is only just ahead with a market value of $252 billion. However, Apple is surging ahead with a market value of $623 billion, with shares exceeding 700p following the launch of the iPhone 5.

During the last 14 years, Google has become an integral part of any company’s search engine optimisation strategy, with a number of changes along the way creating SEO sales jobs. Google affects businesses world wide from Chester to California, as companies increasingly have a presence online. Google is famous not only for its search engine but also the driverless cars, a map of Mars, Project Glass and more. The search engine processes more than one billion search requests every day and is the most visited website. More than 50,000 employees work for Google, which has some of the most inspiring working conditions to offer prospective employees.
